Live Performance: ConVento
Special Event | June 26 & 28 2026 | former Convent of Saints Cosma and Damian
ConVento was a special project conceived and curated by Cosmogram as a two-day program of film screenings and site-specific performances, marking its first collaboration with the Luigi Nono Archive, the Centro Teatrale di Ricerca della Giudecca (C.T.R.), and Microclima. The project unfolded across the interconnected spaces of the former Convent of Saints Cosma and Damiano on the island of Giudecca, weaving together the cloister garden and the adjacent theatre hall into a continuous spatial and perceptual experience.
The program explored the relationship between sound, moving image, memory, and place, proposing cinema and live performance as complementary forms of listening. Screenings included Sisters with Transistors by Lisa Rovner, an homage to the pioneering women of electronic music, and Sam Green’s documentary dedicated to the life and work of Anne Lockwood, among other works that resonated with themes of sonic research and experimental practice.
These cinematic moments were interlaced with live performances by Simone Carraro, Sofia Pozdniakova, Giacomo Salis, Denise Tosato, and an apparition by Gavin Bryars, activating the spaces through voice, electronics, instrumental gestures, and acoustic interventions. Rather than a linear program, ConVento was conceived as a fluid constellation of experiences, encouraging audiences to move, listen, and inhabit the site in multiple ways.
